About Konscia.com
This is my personal web site, a monument to ego (hey, at least I'm honest!) and a place for me to share various bits of information and resources with my friends, family, and other netizens. I hope to keep adding useful information here over time and to structure this site in such a way that it doesn't become a monument to neglect as has happened to my personal sites in the past.
My first personal website was deployed back in 1994 and was written in an early version of HTML. Later on and particularly up through the 90's Net Boom having one's own Web page became fashionable (and beneficial to slap onto business cards). But my reason for building my original site and this one was enthusiasm for what the early Web represented.
So, what's with the site name? It is the Esperanto word for aware or conscious. Nothing profound is implied by this, only that it was the site name I settled on.
The plain vanilla look of this site is temporary until I settle on a design. I'm tired of running into websites that are heavy on design but spare on actual content, so I'm prioritizing in the opposite direction.
I developed this site entirely using Perl and Mason. It is hosted on a FreeBSD platform.
